BLING✦ is a limited graphic novel series created and illustrated by daniela smith-fischer. the series is inspired by fight club and is a gripping exploration of trauma, privilege, and the importance of friendship during crucial years of building identity in high-school.
After losing all her teeth in a car accident, star swimmer and high-school weirdo, Diana, drained her mom's bank account to replace them with diamond teeth. Not veneers… actual TEETH.
Under immense pressure to maintain her grades while dealing with the excruciating pain of her dental surgeries, Diana begins to struggle with her painful new smile, leaving her three best friends questioning her mental health. After pushing her friends away, Diana finds herself isolated, alone and resenting the effortless privilege many wealthy students at her private school enjoy. Making matters worse, a charismatic new student's arrival sparks Diana's jealousy, leading to a violent confrontation during swim practice.

THE AUTHOR
Daniela Smith-Fischer is a Brazilian-Canadian storyboard artist with 10 years of experience in the animation industry.
She started her career as a self taught traditional animator, and has collaborated on multiple animated projects for clients like disney, lego, sony, dreamworks and apple tv.
Bling✦ is her first publishing work.
